Chav

The number of visitors to the Bluewater Shopping centre has leapt - after the Kent complex banned hooded tops and baseball caps.

Last weekend some 22% more shoppers walked through the giant centre’s doors than at the same time last year.

It is thought to be a direct result of the publicity surrounding its new ban on young people wearing hoodies.

Managers introduced the code of conduct on 11 May, aimed at clamping down on anti-social behaviour at the complex.

It also outlawed swearing, leafleting and canvassing, saying it was trying to make shopping safer “and more enjoyable” for its thousands of customers.

It said it would not tolerate intimidating behaviour by groups or individuals, anti-social behaviour and the wearing of clothing which deliberately obscures the face such as hooded tops and baseball caps.

Tony Blair later backed the move but it was seen as controversial by some groups.

The Children’s Society charity branded Bluewater’s action “blatant discrimination based on stereotypes and prejudices” and said it infringed young people’s rights.

I say good for Bluewater, it is discrimination, but rightly so, its like saying that men are discriminated against by not being allowed into the female toilets of any establishment. The reason these chav’s are being discriminated against is because they represent the social effluent that keeps the UK stuck in a rut, where ever there is petty crime, no doubt you will find a group of hooded 15yrold scum bags somewhere near.

These figures just illustrate to me that the larger, and often unheard, section of society IS intimidated and annoyed by chavs, and now that they know they can go to somewhere free of such wasters, that they are executing their right and ability to do so.

How long till other shopping centres and establishments follow suit? it cant happen soon enough for me.

On a side note, check out these rather humourous new shirts from chavscum.co.uk:

Happy Slap

it’s wrong to discriminate against people because they wear a certain type of clothing. I wear a hoodie but have commited suprisingly few crimes. I admit chavs are SCUM but it is extremely unfair to stereotype everyone that wears a hoddie as a chav. Its all bollocks and you know it, you really shouldnt read the daily mail.

Thats true, and I have hoodies too, I think however that this rather than being a discriminationary tactic is rather just trying to maintian a certain standard of apperance with shoppers. Would you suggest that a night club is being discriminate toward everyone who has a pair of trainers by enforcing a no trainer rule? likewise with baseball caps? no? i thought not.

I own hoodies, and caps, I can also go to bluewater, i just have to resist combining the two, something that really dosnt bother me, as unlike your modern day chav, I have other components to my wardrobe.
